Windstream also delivers broadband, digital phone and high-definition TV services to residential customers primarily in rural areas and we operate a local and long-haul fiber optic network spanning 100,000 route miles.JOB SUMMARY:Installs and maintains customer telephone and wiring, outside plant, and special circuits according to specifications; adheres to all safety practices; diagnoses, clears and repairs outside plant facility troubles; performs minor central office tasks; sells and promotes company products and features; uses and understands the tools and test equipment to accomplish the required job objectives; orders job materials through the IVR system; performs minor engineering tasks; maintains neat and orderly service vehicle; promotes positive company image to the public; performs other duties as assigned or deemed necessary.JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Installs and maintains customer telephone equipment and wiring, outside plant and special circuits according to specifications: performs all aspects of installation of telephones and special equipment; climbs ladders and poles and works aloft; assists in the installation of span lines and repeaters for special services and carriers; installs and repairs station wire and telecommunication equipment, repairs carrier and digital line concentrator related troubles, clears troubles associated with outside plant cables, both aerial and buried; repairs cable cuts and damage; performs minor central office related tasks such as changing out printed circuits packs and carrier cards; runs jumpers on the frame in central offices and remotes; follows safety related guidelines and procedures; secures safety of work areas by placing cones; attends safety meetings; orders all minor job material through the IVR system, including telephones, station wire, and jacks; ensures the service vehicle is neatly and adequately stocked with materials arranged for easy location and accessibility.Sells and promotes company products and features: sells and promotes all company products and features, including telephone rental, ADSL, class features, custom calling features, centrex service; meets or exceeds company objectives on sales; presents and conducts self in a professional matter; promotes positive company image to the public; works as directed with city officials, county officials, and local customers to maintain a positive image of Windstream.Uses and understands tools and test equipment to accomplish the job: uses the handheld terminals (HHT) for receipt of daily work orders; uses locating equipment to prevent damage to buried facilities; uses test equipment such as multi meters, level meters, noise meters to test circuits and diagnose troubles.Performs minor engineering tasks: performs minor engineering tasks such as drawing maps for engineer's use on PSRs; turns in buried drop requests; able to read and interpret plat maps.Performs other duties as assigned or deemed necessary.
