DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR

Details: The Video Server Operations DBA/SA is responsible for providing day to day support and assist in the overall strategic mission of the Video Server Operations Group. The team is responsible for the security administration, support, monitoring, strategy and design of MS Windows, RHEL, and Sun Solaris based Video Delivery systems to include the Back Office system infrastructure for video subscribers across the US. Responsibilities: Serve as a key member of the Video Server Operations Group to ensure the delivery of high quality video and back end support for multiple geographically distributed video markets. Serve as the POC for database server and operating system level issues for multiple Microsoft Active Directory Domains in multiple forests. Serve as POC for Solaris web application server clusters and LDAP authentication. Assist in administering multiple Microsoft SQL databases and custom report generation Propose and implement approved system enhancements (software and hardware updates) that improve the performance and reliability of the systems infrastructure Involved in hardware procurement, system planning, upgrading, monitoring, testing, troubleshooting and servicing using skills as an experienced professional with a full understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures Resolve a wide range of issues in imaginative as well as practical ways Handle shift work, unusual hours, and on-call rotations as required Document and record system changes and enhancements Qualifications: Education / Verifiable Work Experience: BS Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field with 4 years verifiable experience or A minimum of 10 years verifiable work experience in a UNIX/Windows environment *Verifiable experience may be substituted for formal education at a rate of 3 years experience equals 1 year formal education
